what im wearing

a few things you need…

Down here in south Georgia, we are slowwwwwly transitioning from winter to spring…which means I’m beginning to incorporate warmer-weather styles into my wardrobe. I’m excited to share a few of my finds with you guys – I think you will love them as much as I do!

Chiffon Bow-Sleeve Top
chiffon top + shredded hem skinnies.

I am beyond in love with this romantic chiffon wrap-hem top. The bow-sleeves are so pretty, and the relaxed fit is super flattering. It’s longer in the back, so you could also wear it with leather leggings. The best part? Um, it’s $12. It comes in several other colors, too! Shredded hem skinnies are still a thing, and I found several styles similar to mine (which are sold out). This Kut From the Kloth pair is almost exactly like mine, and this Asos pair is only $32 and features a cool retro pocket. In other news, I’m trying to drink water with lemon and cayenne pepper throughout the day. This cute “I AM VERY BUSY” cup (which I got for Valentine’s Day) makes that chore a little more bearable. There’s a matching coffee mug, notebook and agenda, too.

Seed Bead Necklace
new favorite necklace.

This multi-color sead beed necklace screamssss spring. It’s from Sole Statesboro (you can order it via Insta!), and I found a few other similar styles here.

Tie-Front Skirt
sunday best with my littlest.

This cotton tie-front skirt feels so fresh for spring, and it’s only $39. I’ll pair it with a tank later, but for now I love it with my favorite oxford button-down and fox sweater. My exact sweater is sold out, but you could recreate this look with this one from GAP (hurry, cause it’s going fast!) or this one – it comes in petite and plus sizes. My red flats from J Crew Factory have been sold out for a while, but J Crew Factory just introduced THESE, which are almost identical and also come in a pretty grey. Also, these Tory Burch studs are my new everyday earrings.

outfit roundup.

Last week was packed with travel and work meetings, and I’m still playing catch-up. The downside is that I am exhausted. The bright side is that I scooped a few new transitional items I know I’ll be wearing all spring. Here’s a look back:

Funnel Neck Look
casual style for a longggg day of traveling

Joe and I had an almost-full day of travel last Thursday that dovetailed immediately into a meet-and-greet event, with no time to change in between. Knowing that we wouldn’t have any downtime, I chose my travel outfit carefully. My knit funnel-neck top is cute, relaxed and absolutely will not wrinkle. I love the elbow-length sleeves, which will work into the spring. My exact top is sold out, but I’ve rounded up several similar styles below (a few of which I’m purchasing as soon as I finish this post!). I’m wearing a new fit from my favorite denim brand Blank NYC – the high-rise skinny. I’ve been waiting for years for Blank to make a high-rise skinny, and I’m pumpppped that I scooped these. Oh and my exact pair is on sale for less than $50 with most sizes in stock!

White Blazer Look
simple outfit for dinner with friends.

We were treated to a bit of warmer weather later in the week, and I wore one of my favorite jeans + blazer combos for dinner with friends. BCBGeneration makes this blazer in tons of colors year after year. The style is so flattering – not boxy at all. I’ve got a few left at Sole Statesboro (on sale!), and you can also buy it here and here.  My Sam Edelman Hazel pumps are on sale in a few colors, including the nude color I’m wearing here. My exact skinny leopard belt is sold out from J Crew Factory, but this one from Gap is super-similar and less than $30. I scooped these Tory Burch studs before our trip last week…because, no reason. Do you ever get that feeling that you just HAVE to have something new for a trip? Er, me neither.

Minnetonka Sneaker Look
mom must-have: comfy, cute sneakers.
I did a separate post about these Minnetonka suede sneakers last week, but I had to include them in this round-up as well because I just can’t stop wearing them. They come in several different colors and have the dreamiest padded insole. I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t feel my best in a blazer and heels…but for those days when I’ve got a ton of errands to run / a soccer game to watch / or just need to feel cute with a minimum of effort, these slip-ons are perfect. I’m also in love with this J. Crew Factory knot-front shirt. I get a new white button-down every year, and this one is my pick for 2018. The fabric is light and linen-y, and the shirttails in front are extra long so you can make the perfect knot. It’s currently on sale for $40! My exact Blank NYC cropped mid-rise skinnies (how cute is the frayed hem??) are sold out right now, so I linked a few other colors in the same fit below.

OPI Black Cherry Chutney
the perfect deep purple.
My nail-color these days is Black Cherry Chutney by OPI. I’ll probably lighten it up in the next few weeks, but for now this feels so right. Do you have a go-to nail color for this time of year? Share it with us on Instagram at @theglitterlifexo!

2018: first round.

HOW is January half-over already? Oh wait, I know…holidays, snow days and three-day weekends have totally distorted my calendar. Jennifer and I have been struggling to get back in the swing of things – nothing new. At what point will we just recognize that life at this stage (married, young kids, demanding jobs, busy schedules) is NEVER going to feel calm and collected? Hmmm…how about now? K, done. 🙂 These days, taking an outfit pic in the morning feels like a mini-victory. Or maybe a major victory, depending on the day. Here are a few looks worth repeating…click each photo for shoppable links, or (if you’re viewing this on our website) click each product pic for how-to-buy info.

Saturday Look
“running important errands” (i.e. going to Hobby Lobby)

Favorite distressed skinnies + chunky turtleneck  + short puffer (other options here and here) + Sorel boots.

Changing up my distressed skinnies for Spanx denim leggings (LOVE this wine color) and swapping my puffer for a cute utility jacket. My knot-front tee is from Sole Statesboro. Use code GLITTER to take 10% off!

workflow.

Can’t say enough about Spanx denim – the high-waisted fit and built-in shaping make them the *perfect* post-holiday legging. New go-to nail color: OPI Black Cherry.

Freezing rain wreaked havoc with my hair last week. Also, why don’t I own a cuter umbrella?

rain, rain, go away…come back never.

Gingham button-down: check. Blazer: check. Hunters: check. Preppy style at its (my) best – just add distressed skinnies (other options here and here) for a little bit of edge.

On Friday our SEPTIC TANK crashed/exploded/quit. Which, if you know anything about plumbing – I don’t, and I don’t want to learn – is especially bad news if you’ve had weeks of rain and all area wastewater facilities are full. The boys and I couldn’t deal without toilet flushing and showers, so we (very happily) went to my in-laws’ for the weekend.

very gross hair.

Same gingham button-down, paired a few days later with a geranium sweater ( the “Teddie” sweater from J Crew Factory – an all-time favorite) and 7 For All Mankind mid-rise skinnies.

And finally, a pic of my new front door! We painted it Quietude by Benjamin Moore, and I love how it turned out.
Hope you have a wonderful day! xo
