friday five: links we love.

Can we just say we are READY for the weekend? Rumor has it the weather’s going to be beautiful. J is headed to Lake Oconee; L is ready for some one-on-one time (and a few decorating projects) with Baby Joe. Here are five links we’re loving today!

Link Love
five things to try/buy this weekend.

1. Best Nail Polish Colors for Spring 2015. Weekends are for painting your nails, and this “best of” list will give you plenty of inspiration. In case you’re wondering (and we know you are), at the moment J’s nails are Essie Lilacism and L’s nails are Essie Tart Deco, an old fave that feels fresh right now.

2. Swim Sale. Shop our fave swimwear brands at Dish Boutique this weekend and take 20% off your order using the secret code SWIM15. We’re dying for the printed L*Space Chloe Wrap Top.

3. Barefoot Workout. If the mention of swimsuit shopping just gave you a panic attack, check out this genius barefoot workout. Sure, you can do it on the beach (maybe awkward)…but also in your backyard, in your living room, etc. We’re both going to do this a few times this weekend.

4. Styling Tricks for Your Home. L and Baby Joe are planning to do some sprucing up around the house this weekend. We loved this list of 11 tricks from Domaine that will make your home look (more) like a magazine.

5. Smores Bites. Our weekends are not complete without a sweet treat. J made these S’mores Bites by the First Year last night to take to the lake. Full disclosure: they did not turn out EXACTLY like the pic…but they sure were tasty. Practice makes perfect, right?

DIY: gel manicure.

If you’re like L and me, you love to get creative with your nail polish but you don’t have the time (or the cash) to hop into the nail salon every week for a manicure. We are definitely advocates of the DIY home mani BUT regular polish chips after a few days. So what’s a glitter girl to do?

Thanks to my coworker Amber, let me share how to get the same shiny, long-lasting results of a professional gel manicure right in the comfort of your own home. The key ingredient:

Gelous Sally Beauty Supply
Gelous Nail Gel

It’s not a quick process, but the results (and $$ you save!) are totally worth it. All you need is Gelous Nail Gel by ACI, the nail color of your choice (any brand), and a fast-drying top coat.

Essie Good to Go & Tart Deco
Steps 1-5

Here are the steps:

1. Apply two coats of Gelous, leaving a few minutes of dry time in between.

2. Add a layer of your polish (shown here: Tart Deco by Essie).

3. Apply one more layer of Gelous.

4. Apply a second coat of your polish.

5. Apply a fast-drying top coat. We love Good to Go by Essie.

Gelous/Essie Manicure
TA-DA.

My mani has lasted over a WEEK with no chips. Can’t beat that! Removal is simple: just use acetone polish remover.

What do you think, ladies? Will you be running out to grab Gelous on your lunch break? L is. I promise, it’s the best $5.99 you’ll ever spend.
