my favorite slip-on sneakers.

So it’s taken me a while to come around to the slip-on sneaker trend. (Is it even a trend at this point? It feels like they’re here to stay.) At first I felt like I couldn’t pull off something so sporty. Dressier options like pointy-toe flats, ballet flats, etc were more “me.” But I’ve slowly come around. I started with the Minnetonka “Pacific” suede sneaker, with which I ended up falling in love. CUTE. COMFY. EASY. And they’re on sale right now for $41, which is a total steal.

Minnetonka Pacific Sneaker
I wore the *heck* out of my Minnetonka Pacific sneakers last year, including to the Bear Hollow Zoo during our Hurricane Irma evacuation.

Then I was introdued to the Minnetonka “Gabi” sneaker in black suede: a little edgier, and – if you can believe it (I couldn’t) – even more comfortable. Seriously, it feels like I am walking on clouds when I wear them.

Minnetonka Gabi Sneaker
complete and total love

How cute are they? I’m wearing them here with a J Crew Factory knot-front button-down and Blank NYC cropped skinnies (similar shredded-hem styles here and here), and I’ve also been pairing them with my favorite Spanx camo leggings and a slouchy tee. These are a great option if you run marathon-level errands (me) and/or work retail and are on your feet all day (also me). Minnetonka is offering free shipping right now with promo code VALENTINE18, so go ahead and treat yourself!

Fit note: These are sized like running shoes. I recommend ordering your normal SNEAKER size. I wear a 6.5 in heels and most flats, but a 7 (which is my Nike/New Balance size) fit me best in both Minnetonka sneakers.

2018: first round.

HOW is January half-over already? Oh wait, I know…holidays, snow days and three-day weekends have totally distorted my calendar. Jennifer and I have been struggling to get back in the swing of things – nothing new. At what point will we just recognize that life at this stage (married, young kids, demanding jobs, busy schedules) is NEVER going to feel calm and collected? Hmmm…how about now? K, done. 🙂 These days, taking an outfit pic in the morning feels like a mini-victory. Or maybe a major victory, depending on the day. Here are a few looks worth repeating…click each photo for shoppable links, or (if you’re viewing this on our website) click each product pic for how-to-buy info.

Saturday Look
“running important errands” (i.e. going to Hobby Lobby)

Favorite distressed skinnies + chunky turtleneck  + short puffer (other options here and here) + Sorel boots.

Changing up my distressed skinnies for Spanx denim leggings (LOVE this wine color) and swapping my puffer for a cute utility jacket. My knot-front tee is from Sole Statesboro. Use code GLITTER to take 10% off!

workflow.

Can’t say enough about Spanx denim – the high-waisted fit and built-in shaping make them the *perfect* post-holiday legging. New go-to nail color: OPI Black Cherry.

Freezing rain wreaked havoc with my hair last week. Also, why don’t I own a cuter umbrella?

rain, rain, go away…come back never.

Gingham button-down: check. Blazer: check. Hunters: check. Preppy style at its (my) best – just add distressed skinnies (other options here and here) for a little bit of edge.

On Friday our SEPTIC TANK crashed/exploded/quit. Which, if you know anything about plumbing – I don’t, and I don’t want to learn – is especially bad news if you’ve had weeks of rain and all area wastewater facilities are full. The boys and I couldn’t deal without toilet flushing and showers, so we (very happily) went to my in-laws’ for the weekend.

very gross hair.

Same gingham button-down, paired a few days later with a geranium sweater ( the “Teddie” sweater from J Crew Factory – an all-time favorite) and 7 For All Mankind mid-rise skinnies.

And finally, a pic of my new front door! We painted it Quietude by Benjamin Moore, and I love how it turned out.
Hope you have a wonderful day! xo

holiday dressing.

As promised, here are a few of my favorite looks for the holiday season. You don’t need much: a fun little skirt and a few special accessories will get you through.

Plaid Skirt
merry little holiday skirt.

I wore this adorable plaid skirt for a family holiday event. It’s sold out for now (but keep looking – this brand has a habit of restocking popular items!), so I rounded up some other equally cute little plaid numbers for you guys.

Spanx Tights
best. tights. ever.

Here I am, wearing my trusty “Sidewalk Skirt” again. Also, I’m a big believer in tights. They really do make a huge difference as far as warmth! But all tights are not created equal. These Spanx Luxe Leg Tights are the only tights I will ever wear – they are 100% opaque, never lose their shape and do a LOT for you as far as holding everything in. They’re a big confidence booster! I’m wearing them in the first pic as well.

Calf-Hair Leopard Clutch
so much love for this clutch.

Continuing my love for all things leopard…this clutch is perfection. Mine is from Sole Statesboro, but this baby is EVERYWHERE this season. Click here to see some super-similar options in a range of price points.

Bow Earrings
festive bow earrings.

Jennifer scooped these cute black ribbon hoops, and I’m going to do the same. They’re the perfect finishing touch to any holiday outfit.

my fall/winter capsule, part 2.

Merry, merry everything! The holidays are in full swing, and since both of us have little ones our posting may become a little spacy as we (try to) focus on our boys during this special time of year. Here’s a look at some of my favorite outfits from the last couple of weeks. As I mentioned in this post, I tend to do “capsule dressing” AKA buying a few new pieces every season that work with 1) what I already have and 2) also work with each other. It makes getting dressed in the morning so much easier! Click each photo to shop the look, or (if you’re looking at this on our website), click each piece in the product widget below the photo.

Sidewalk Skirt
The skirt I’ve been wearing all fall.

I’ve put this wool “Sidewalk Skirt” in heavy rotation this fall/winter (and it’s on MAJOR SALE right now – less than $20! – so scoop several colors!). The gathered/ruched/ruffled/ waistband is super-comfy, and the high-waisted fit is so flattering. It’s perfect with tights as well. I’m wearing it here with my all-time favorite sweater (I have it in several colors – can’t stop, won’t stop) and leopard-print heels.

And speaking of leopard…

Leopard Print Faux Fur Jacket
is leopard-print a neutral? 100%.

This faux-fur jacket makes me SO happy. I love the length and how cozy it feels – it’s honestly warmer than some of my “serious weather” coats. Leopard-print looks great with literally EVERYTHING (the only exception: something else leopard-print). I wear mine with everything from jeans and a button-down to an LBD. My exact coat sold out super fast, but I rounded up a ton of other options for you guys in a range of price points.

Corduroy Skort
skorts are so sporty!

This corduroy skort from Sole Statesboro is a super-versatile piece – it’s lightweight, so it looks great with bare legs and loafers…but it also works great with tights (these Spanx tights are the ONLY tights I will ever wear!) and booties. I’m wearing the skort here with the same wool sweater from above and and a ruffle coat from several years ago. If you love dressy coats like there, click here for my round-up of the best ruffle coats this year!

Teddie Wool Sweater
bright orange + COFFEE on a beautiful fall day.

Here’s my go-to sweater in bright orange. Orange is one of my favorite colors – it works so perfectly with olive, navy, etc. I’m wearing it here with Spanx denim leggings (which you should REALLY check out if you haven’t yet) and a statement necklace. I’m definitely in favor of wearing statement necklaces for everyday – they elevate basics and make them feel special.

Stay tuned for my favorite holiday dressing! Hope the rest of your week is wonderful – xo

lately.

It’s Tuesday – back to the GRIND. We’ll be sharing some super cute stuff with you on Insta later this week, but in the meantime, these outfits from the last few weeks deserve a second look!

One Shoulder Striped Ruffle Top
just before I dropped Joe off for a week in Athens // you can tell from our faces that both of us were a little apprehensive about being separated (but he had a GREAT time at camp!)

One-shoulder, ruffles, stripes…this sweet little top checked all my boxes. I’m wearing the black/white version, but it also comes in blue/white. It was sold out for a while, but now it’s been restocked in all sizes! I paired it with black Spanx denim leggings (yes, I’m still wearing them – they are super comfy, even in this insane heat!), my favorite tassel wedges and beaded tassel earrings, which come in tons of different colors. You can shop Joe’s little Sperry topsiders here.

Embroidered Hat
smiling because I really love this hat.

It has rained literally EVERY DAY this summer – and every single day – it’s forced me to up my rainy-day outfit game. I love this embroidered baseball hat from Dish (I’m also feeling this satin one from Forever 21, which is super similar!), and this lightweight camo jacket has become my go-to layer. It’s under $40 and is stocked in all sizes! I’ve been wearing these TOMS Memphis sunnies for over two years. They fit my face perfectly (no bending or molding necessary), and they never slide off my ears. These come in a bunch of cool color combos; the tortoise ones like mine are on major sale right now!

little joe
lady killer.

The Joes and I spent a weekend in Atlanta, doing some tourist-y things, hanging out with Jennifer, Jay and James and attending the christening of our sweet friend Corinna’s daughter Quinn. Little Joe broke hearts in his pink shorts and blazer (his is from Janie & Jack, and I couldn’t find it online…this one from J Crew is similar). Click the photo for the other details, including a few options for his Vineyard Vines shirt.

Off Shoulder Top
three cheers for the…

Just in time for the Fourth, Jennifer’s fave red and white striped off-shoulder top went on sale.

Speaking of the Fourth…this white BCBGeneration romper had just arrived at Sole, striking the perfect dressy/casual note. I added a simple blue envelope clutch and these red tassel earrings (get on my level! tassels are the best!), which come in black and dusty rose as well.

Rose Ttote
everything you need, stuffed into the cutest tote bag

Even though I didn’t travel for the Fourth, my favorite graphic tote got a workout. My holiday weekend essentials: navy lace-up tank, red stripe relaxed fit tankwhite bandeau bikini top, bikini bottom, brush-on sunscreen and striped straws. Because how else would I drink my wine?

Hope you all have a great week! xo

Have you guys recovered from the long weekend? Ours was glorious…but Tuesday hit us like a ton of Monday-sized bricks. After struggling yesterday, we’re back in the game today. We put a few items to the test last week – read on for the deets.

Striped Button Down The Glitter Life
vegas-bound

Jennifer and Jay traveled to Vegas last week, and as you probably know that East Coast-to-almost-West Coast flight is BRUTAL. A cocktail and this H&M comfy striped button-down (paired with Blank NYC white denim – of course) made the flight a little more bearable. The top comes in a few more colors/prints!

Pool Look The Glitter Life
bikini top // bottom // cover-up // sandals

Poolside, Jennifer mixed high (classic Jack Rogers sandals – there’s also a wedge version) with a sweet little scalloped bikini top and bottom from Target and a palm print over-up from Old Navy. That’s our style – mixing cute, inexpensive pieces with our fave classic stand-bys.

Cold Shoulder Top The Glitter Life
cold-shoulder top // black denim leggings // tassel ankle-wrap wedges

Back in Georgia, baby Joe graduated from kindergarten! Yes, I’m still going to refer to him “Baby Joe”. And yes, I wore my comfiest basics because sitting on gymnasium bleachers for an hour is no joke. This BCBGeneration cold-shoulder top (re-stocked in all sizes!!), Spanx black denim leggings (also seen here, and virtually once a week), and Coconuts by Matisse ankle-wrap wedges have been on repeat since spring.

Striped Swim Look The Glitter Life
bikini top // bottom // sunblock

The Joes and I didn’t go ANYWHERE for Memorial Day weekend, and it was magical. Sometimes relaxing at home is the best way to recharge. We did have a few friends over for a pool party Saturday night, and this striped bikini top and bottom from Target got a lot of compliments. As I’m writing this post, all sizes are still available! I love how the top feels so secure, and it’s true to size. The bottoms are not as cheeky as most styles right now – I probably could have sized down, but with two kids…better safe than sorry. Also, have you guys tried this SPF 30 Brush On Block yet? It’s a truly genius product – you just twist the brush and a translucent SPF powder materializes on the brush. No greasy sunscreen lotion getting in your eyes, no kids coughing exaggeratedly “ughhhhh it’s in my mouth!!!!” as you spray them. Wait, are mine are the only ones that do that? Seriously, try it.

Flamingo Float
the best $39 you will spend this summer

This flamingo pool float is EVERYTHING. I *hate* floats that don’t keep you above water – if I wanted to get wet, I would SWIM. -_- This giant pink beauty keeps me suspended above the water and provides plenty of room to relax. I do recommend using an air compressor or similar-ish thingy (idk what they’re called, I’m not a scientist) to inflate it. Don’t ask me how I know.

Off Shoulder Striped Top
happy memorial day!

On Memorial Day, Jennifer sipped a few margs in this adorable striped off-shoulder top. It comes in petite AND tall and – unbelievably! – it’s under $20. You’ll have plenty of money left over for queso.

We’ve got tons of cute stuff planned for the next few weeks. Follow along on Instagram and tag us in your own pics!

outfit roundup | 5.15

It’s MONDAY, and there’s so much to smile about! We had a restful Mother’s Day weekend, the I-85 bridge has been re-opened and Jennier’s precious baby James turns ONE. We’ll have deets on his birthday party soon…but in the meantime, let’s prolong going back to the real world by doing a little summer shopping. Click each photo to shop some of our favorite things!

Denim Shorts Look The Glitter Life
jennifer’s fave denim shorts + fringe sandals

Jennifer posted these H&M scallop denim shorts and Steve Madden sandals, and y’all went nuts. In fact, both are now sold out (congrats to those of you who moved fast!), but check out these super-similar fringe sandals from Sole Society. They’re available in three colors and are under $80!

Scallop Bikini Top The Glitter Life
the most flattering bikini top ever

When it comes to swimwear, Target just gets us. They always have adorable styles at great prices. Jennifer loves this pull-over scalloped triangle top. We love that there are two different bottom options: hipster and cheeky.

Summer Look The Glitter Life
our go-to summer look

We posted this look on Friday, and you guys loved it! I can’t get enough striped tees, and this one by Madewell is my new favorite. These high-waist denim shorts (available at Nordstrom) and faux-suede espadrilles (less than $20 you guys!) have been on repeat lately.

Guac Tank The Glitter Life
my weekend uniform

I’ve been wearing this BCBGeneration graphic tank and Spanx camo leggings pretty much every weekend. Both are available at Sole in Statesboro (tank and leggings // take 10% off your order using promo code GLITTER, plus shipping is free!), or you can click the photo to shop.

Tory Burch York Buckle Tote The Glitter Life
the bag that changed my life

I posted about the Tory Burch York Buckle Tote a few days ago, and if you guys missed it you can check out the post here. This bag is genius and has truly changed my life – I highly recommend it for busy, multi-tasking ladies. Details for the rest of the outfit: Spanx denim leggings (seriously the BEST) // After Market babydoll top // Toms mules.

We’ve got a busy week ahead – follow along on Instagram!

brunch, please.

Is it the weekend yet?

Brunch Look The Glitter Life
no time to stand still for a photo – gotta get to brunch!

In my quest to spend some quality time with both of my boys, I’ve been taking them (separately, because I’m not a crazy person) to brunch on Saturdays. Mama time for them and a mimosa for me – everybody wins! My no-fail brunch look includes this adorable ruffle top (also comes in black!), my trusty Spanx denim leggings (which always fit no matter how many crepes I eat!) and my favorite Madewell denim jacket, because the temps have been varying wildly down here…and what’s the point of brunch if you can’t sit outside? We also like to do a little walking around downtown afterwards, so I always wear wedges. These Toms watercolor wedges are my current favorite.

Brunch Look The Glitter Life
top // leggings // jacket

Spanx leggings and Toms wedges are super comfy – ideal for chasing two rambunctious little ones. I love the fit of this denim jacket, but if you’re looking for something more oversized, this Topshop denim jacket offers a LOT of style at a great price.
