Have you guys recovered from the long weekend? Ours was glorious…but Tuesday hit us like a ton of Monday-sized bricks. After struggling yesterday, we’re back in the game today. We put a few items to the test last week – read on for the deets.

Striped Button Down The Glitter Life
vegas-bound

Jennifer and Jay traveled to Vegas last week, and as you probably know that East Coast-to-almost-West Coast flight is BRUTAL. A cocktail and this H&M comfy striped button-down (paired with Blank NYC white denim – of course) made the flight a little more bearable. The top comes in a few more colors/prints!

Pool Look The Glitter Life

Poolside, Jennifer mixed high (classic Jack Rogers sandals – there’s also a wedge version) with a sweet little scalloped bikini top and bottom from Target and a palm print over-up from Old Navy. That’s our style – mixing cute, inexpensive pieces with our fave classic stand-bys.

Cold Shoulder Top The Glitter Life
cold-shoulder top // black denim leggings // tassel ankle-wrap wedges

Back in Georgia, baby Joe graduated from kindergarten! Yes, I’m still going to refer to him “Baby Joe”. And yes, I wore my comfiest basics because sitting on gymnasium bleachers for an hour is no joke. This BCBGeneration cold-shoulder top (re-stocked in all sizes!!), Spanx black denim leggings (also seen here, and virtually once a week), and Coconuts by Matisse ankle-wrap wedges have been on repeat since spring.

Striped Swim Look The Glitter Life
bikini top // bottom // sunblock

The Joes and I didn’t go ANYWHERE for Memorial Day weekend, and it was magical. Sometimes relaxing at home is the best way to recharge. We did have a few friends over for a pool party Saturday night, and this striped bikini top and bottom from Target got a lot of compliments. As I’m writing this post, all sizes are still available! I love how the top feels so secure, and it’s true to size. The bottoms are not as cheeky as most styles right now – I probably could have sized down, but with two kids…better safe than sorry. Also, have you guys tried this SPF 30 Brush On Block yet? It’s a truly genius product – you just twist the brush and a translucent SPF powder materializes on the brush. No greasy sunscreen lotion getting in your eyes, no kids coughing exaggeratedly “ughhhhh it’s in my mouth!!!!” as you spray them. Wait, are mine are the only ones that do that? Seriously, try it.

Flamingo Float
the best $39 you will spend this summer

This flamingo pool float is EVERYTHING. I *hate* floats that don’t keep you above water – if I wanted to get wet, I would SWIM. -_- This giant pink beauty keeps me suspended above the water and provides plenty of room to relax. I do recommend using an air compressor or similar-ish thingy (idk what they’re called, I’m not a scientist) to inflate it. Don’t ask me how I know.

Off Shoulder Striped Top
happy memorial day!

On Memorial Day, Jennifer sipped a few margs in this adorable striped off-shoulder top. It comes in petite AND tall and – unbelievably! – it’s under $20. You’ll have plenty of money left over for queso.

We’ve got tons of cute stuff planned for the next few weeks. Follow along on Instagram and tag us in your own pics!

party post: l’s baby shower.

L:

J and three sweet friends threw the most amazing baby shower for Baby Ed and me at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro. You may have seen a few pics on Instagram. These are a few more of our favorites! We’ll start from the beginning…

Our favorite girls at Colonial House of Flowers set the mood with this gorgeous centerpiece. See more of their work here and here.

Centerpiece
we love every single thing the girls at colonial house of flowers come up with.

I was so glad my mom was able to make the trip. We all missed my mother-in-law, who was (smartly) cruising in cooler temps.

Joe + Laura + Jan
big brother-to-be joe, my mom jan and me. our coordinating lilly pulitzer outfits were unplanned.

My favorite surprise of the day was…a FLOWER CROWN! I have never been so excited (or so glad that I didn’t do my hair in a top-knot). I had a really hard time taking it off at the end of the day brunch.

Laura + Jennifer + Kate

I was so excited and flattered that three of the hostesses were repping my stores! From left: Christa is wearing a skirt from Social Statesboro and Jack Rogers “Georgica” sandals from Sole Statesboro. J’s wearing an ASOS gypsy dress and fringe booties from Lulu’s (sold out, similar here). I’m wearing a vintage Lilly Pulitzer dress (a hand-me-down from my mom – I actually wore this five years ago to a baby shower for Joe!) and Tory Burch heels (incredibly old, also seen here). Kate’s wearing a Love Poppy leather tassel necklace from Sole Statesboro. Niki’s wearing Spanx cropped denim leggings (they’re also a favorite of mine), Jack Rogers “Lauren” sandals and a Sneak Peek top, all from Sole Statesboro.

Laura + Hostesses
photo op before the guests arrived…

Everyone who knows me knows I live for brunch. I was so happy to see quiche and mini-pancakes on the menu!

blah
i crushed two *big* pieces of quiche before the brunch was over.
blah
a little cheese, a little fruit…
Polka Dot Straws
i heart printed straws.

Jennifer brought cupcakes from the Atlanta outpost of Georgetown Cupcake. I am obsessed with peanut butter, so she set aside one of those just for me. #truefriend The “E” flags are from Etsy.

Georgetown Cupcakes
dry ice may or may not have been involved in the transport of these beauties from atlanta.

I had the cutest little helpers opening gifts: Joe and his BBFL Leo.

Laura + Joe + Leo
these two were so excited to open all the presents!
Opening Gifts
joe is going to be a great big brother.
Christa + Jennifer
oh hi, christa and jennifer!
Valerie + Shellie
my friend Val (left) is exactly two weeks ahead of me…she’s due any day now!
Joe Cupcake
this was joe’s SECOND red velvet cupcake of the morning.

Kate arranged these simple and cute rock candy favors. Joe was fascinated with these…and then he really flipped when he realized it was actual CANDY.

Rock Candy Favors
a little something sweet for guests to take home.
Hostess Gifts
gifts for the hostesses with the mostestes.

Each hostess received a small succulent in mercury glass from Colonial House.

Hostess Gifts
succulents are my jam. because i kill pretty much every other plant.

Post-shower, Joe and I hung out in Ed’s new nursery. He told me “Mom, that was a GREAT PARTY.”…and I totally agree. I was overwhelmed at how beautiful everything was, and how these four friends nailed all of my favorite things. Baby Ed and I are so lucky to have four such incredible women in our lives.

five hours later and i’m still wearing the flower crown.

Happy Friday! This weekend, J’s doing a trial run for wedding hair and makeup (EEEK!) and L’s working in the retail game, but we’re both going to make time to watch a little of the Masters and sip an Azalea Cocktail. In the meantime, take a few minutes to check out these links to stuff we love.

The Glitter Life Link Love

our favorite wedges.

Recently our sweet friend Corinna was inquiring about our favorite spring/summer wedges. We compiled this list for her (ranging from boho to classic to dressy) and wanted to share it with you, too!

NOTE: The original title of this post was Wedges Wednesday. Did anyone else’s Wednesday spiral out of control?

1. Shop Social Dish “Wisdom” Wedges. Wear these platform boho beauties with bell bottoms and maxi dresses. And they’re only $39. Hellow!

Shop Social Dish Wisdom Wedge
feelin’ groovy.

2. Halogen “Clarette” Wedge Sandal. This super-versatile sandal (skews classic, not boho) can be paired with pretty much anything in your closet. Corinna actually ended up choosing these!

The Glitter Life Halogen Clarette Wedge Sandal
neutral suede + stacked heel = perfection.

3. Shop Social Dish “Daff” Wedge. L would call this a “shootie” wedge. We’d pair these taller, chunkier wedges with dark or distressed skinnies and a linen blazer for a dressier look.

Shop Social Dish Daff Wedge
L’s go-to.

4. Jack Rogers Marbella Mid Wedge. Every Southern girl needs a pair of Jack Rogers, and these metallic not-too-high wedges go beautifully with tailored shorts and summer dresses. SPECIAL OFFER for you guys: Order these from Sole Statesboro and get 20% off!

The Glitter Life Marbella Mid Wedge
available at Sole Statesboro. call 912-871-3989 to order.

5. MICHAEL Michael Kors “Josephine” Wedges. If we had to pick ONE wedge to wear all spring/summer, with everrrrrrrything, it might be these MICHAEL Michael Kors wedges. We love the strap (buckle, not velcro), the versatile light tan color and the wooden platform.

The Glitter Life Michael Kors Wedge
could these get any more perfect? yes. they’re on sale.

Stay tuned for pics from our recent trip to NYC!
