Love is in the air and what better way to celebrate that with a deliciously romantic cocktail? We’re totally feeling this festive toddy from The Stylish Type:
1.5 ounce of Patron silver tequila
1 ounce Organic brand lemonade
splash of Rose’s Red grenadine syrup
red sugar for rim
Pour sugar into a shallow plate or bowl. Wet the rim of glass with the lemon wedge. Dip glass into the sugar. Fill glass with ice. Combine tequila, lemonade, and grenadine into a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake for 45 seconds. Strain into the prepared sugar rimmed glass. Garnish with lemon wedge. Enjoy with your love!
Girls, we can’t lie. We are BUMMED that our beloved Atlanta Falcons won’t be taking the field on Sunday. We do love a party though, so we’re making the most of it and planning to take part in the Super Bowl festivities anyway. Whether you’re invited to a party or hosting your own, today’s Friday Five is here to inspire you.
1. Classic Appetizers. If you’re a guest, show up in a party mood and bring an appetizer. We love apps that introduce new twists on old favorites. Here are our picks:
2. Sliders. If you’re the host, ask guests to bring appetizers while you take responsibility for the main course. Chili is a Super Bowl party staple, but why don’t you get creative and serve sliders? They’re a little more work, but they’re cute, easy to grab, and don’t require silverware. Buzzfeed lists thirty slider recipes (some ridiculous, most delicious). Enlist a friend or two to help you assemble them.
3.Drinks. Goodness knows J loves a theme party. Check out these football-inspired beverage ideas. Cheesy? Yes. Fun? ABSOLUTELY.
4.Drinking Game. Timeouts. Commercials. Half time. The Super Bowl just lends itself to drinking games, right? Check out these (hilarious) suggestions from nerdscholar.
5.Dress Code. No wardrobe malfunctions this year, ladies. Ditch the jersey and show your team spirit with a fun pair of colored denim!
L’s making cheese twists for a Super Bowl party Sunday night, and J will be watching the game at a local watering hole. What do you have going on for the Super Bowl? Tweet us your party pics @glitter_blog_xo.
It was a busy busy weekend for these glitter girls. Holiday parties GALORE, birthday party, shopping…’tis the season!
J: This weekend was Jay’s nieces 3rd birthday party (her actual birthday is Friday). This came complete with farm animals and tons of gifts. She’s such a sweet princess and loved every minute. On Sunday, I accompanied my friend Kati to her holiday party at the W Downtown Atlanta. Love spending time with an old college friend!
L: Joe and I were lucky to have a few party invites Friday night–it was nice to spend time with so many good friends. On Saturday morning, we had brunch at a restaurant Joe has been dying to try, Tortuga’s Grille, in Thunderbolt near Savannah. Best shrimp fritters ever, y’all.
We’d be lying if we said that this holiday season feels super duper festive right now. Friday’s school shooting as well as things that have affected each of us personally have taken some of the glitter out of this time of year. If you’re struggling to get into the holiday spirit, it’s okay to regret that party invite and stay in. For some of us, going through the motions is important–it makes us feel normal. Others need more quiet time. So however you choose to deal with everything, remember that there is MUCH to celebrate!

Whew. This weekend *flew* by. L spent hers cheering on the Georgia Southern Eagles (they won! eeek!), engagement party hopping and wrestling with Christmas tree lights. J traveled back to Augusta to attend her first holiday party of the season. Our weekend in pics:
Hope all of you had a great weekend! We’ve got lots on tap for this week: must-have planners and calendars for 2013, our fave accessories and a recipe or two. Here’s to the week!
WOW, what a whirlwind of a holiday. We hope you all enjoyed as much time with friends/family as we did. L and I were both in Augusta for Thanksgiving (both sets of parents live there), and then we each had a few adventures on our own. Here’s what we’ve been up to:
L: The Joes and I enjoyed a wonderful Turkey Day dinner at the Augusta Country Club (fantastic food, and no dishes for L’s mom!). After a nice afternoon with family, Joe headed back to Statesboro while Baby Joe and I relaxed in Augusta. We loved having brunch and doing a little shopping at one of our favorite shopping centers on Saturday with my mom. On our way back home to Statesboro, we stopped by Locos to see Big Joe and watch the University of Georgia stomp Georgia Tech. Go Dawgs!
J: With Jay and Romeo in tow, we left for Augusta on Wednesday night and spent Thanksgving with my family on Thursday. On Friday, we decided to break up our trip back to Atlanta by stopping at Lake Oconee. We enjoyed a laid-back night drinking cocktails and roasting marshmallows at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation. Their holiday decor is BEYOND! We finally made it home yesterday, and I enjoyed brunch with some of my favorite ladies at West Egg Cafe.
Of course, we wouldn’t be glitter girls if we hadn’t met up for drinks on Friday. L, J and Jay reunited at Bar Oliviana, a cute new Italian place that J’s brother Thomas helped open.
OH! Exciting news! Our loyal reader, JFAV, is engaged! It all went down on the 7th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Course. Congrats to JFAV and Dan!
We hope you all had a fantastic weekend with your family and friends. Tweet us your pics @glitter_blog_xo!
This weekend J and I had a glitter reunion in Athens, GA for the GSU/UGA (our alma maters, respectively) game. Athens is a beautiful college town–we ate great food, drank great wine and had a blast in general. Witness:
We hope your weekend was as fantastic as ours. Tweet us pics @glitter_blog_xo.
