caramelized pear, crispy prosciutto + blue cheese pizza.

Our mouths watered when we saw this Caramelized Pear, Crispy Prosciutto and Blue Cheese Pizza on How Sweet It Is. We adapted the recipe to use refrigerated pizza dough. Because we’re busy, okay? Behold, the perfect fall pizza.

The Glitter Life Pear Pizza
the perfect combination of fall flavors.

What You Need:

  • refrigerated pizza dough
  • 2 semi-ripe pears, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 6 ounces fontina cheese, freshly grated
  • 2 shallots, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 slices prosciutto
  • 6 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
  • balsamic glaze for drizzling

What You Do:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Grease large dark or nonstick cookie sheet with shortening or cooking spray. Unroll dough on cookie sheet. Press out dough to 15×10-inch rectangle.
  • Sprinkle cornmeal evenly over dough. Bake 7 minutes; remove from oven.
  • Heat a large skillet over low heat and add olive oil and butter. Add in the pears with the salt and nutmeg and cover, cooking for 15 minutes and stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat more if they begin to brown too much. Stir in the brown sugar and cook for 5 to 10 more minutes until golden. Set aside.
  • Add about three fourths of the fontina on the dough along with the garlic and shallots. Spread the pears all over the pizza and cover them with the prosciutto. Crumble the blue cheese over top and add the rest of the fontina. Bake for 7 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly. Remove and drizzle balsamic on top. Enjoy!

pumpkin chocolate chip bars.

We love the blog Two Peas and Their Pod. It’s one of the first places we go for recipe inspiration. The recipes are simple, straightforward, and packed with flavor. We’re totally making these Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bars for our next fall get-together:

 Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bars

What You Need:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice (don’t have any? learn how to make a substitute here.)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

What You Do:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan and set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  • With a stand or electric mixer, cream butter and sugar on medium-high speed until smooth; beat in egg and vanilla until combined. Add pumpkin puree and mix well. The mixture will look somewhat curdled. Reduce speed to low, and mix in dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake bars for 35-40 minutes or until edges begin to pull away from sides of pan and a toothpick inserted in center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Cool bars completely in pan. Cut into squares and serve. Yields 24 bars.

October Birchbox

1. Bain de Terre macadamia oil NOURISHING SHAMPOO: A lot of paraben free shampoos have such little lather, but this lathered up fantastically and left my hair feeling fresh and clean.

2. Bain de Terre macadamia oil NOURISHING CONDITIONER: My hair definitely benefited from using this conditioner. It’s soft, smells great and looks visibly healthier.

3. Benefit Fakeup:Absolutely in love with this concealer. It blends so easily and wears light. BONUS: It’s super hydrating if you’re battling dry skin.

4. Evologie® Stay Clear Cream: I have yet to notice anything spectacular about this product. With a price tag of $62, I was expecting more BUT maybe it takes more time…

5. ChapStick® Hydration Lock: I’m a lip product junkie and I can honestly say this is one of the best lip balms I’ve used. First, apply the bubblegum flavored lip scrub from Lush. Then, add your hydration lock and you have the perfect pout.
