friday five: link love.

Oh hey, Friday. We’re hanging at the Ritz Carlton at Reynolds Plantation today, NBD. This is J’s big weekend – she will officially become a MRS. tomorrow! Be sure to follow along with us on Insta (#JJB2015) as we chronicle what’s sure to be an amazing weekend. In the meantime, check out these links to stuff we love. xo

Links We Love 4_17_15

#vibes

1. Coachella Survival Guide. Headed to Coachella this weekend? Say hello to Ryan Adams for us. Also read this article and check out Dish Statesboro for #festivalstyle inspo.

2. Tudor Tutor. Move over, Downton Abbey. We’re superrrrr excited that Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall is now on PBS. Palace intrigue can be confusing, so use this handy guide to distinguish between Tudor loyalists and Papists while you watch.

3. Sally Hansen Self Tanner. The quest for the perfect self tanner never ends. You could say it’s our holy grail. This one is our new fave. The color is totally natural, and there’s virtually no weird fading. Don’t let the orange tint freak you out–it washes off your hands.

4. One Pot Basil + Andouille Sausage Pasta.  You know we’re all about quick easy, one-pot dinners…especially those that can be repurposed for lunch the next day. This one uses tons of summer-fresh basil.

5. World Market Pendant Lamp. We think this simple-yet-special gold pendant lamp would look amazing in a powder room, small home office….or over a modern crib in a nursery.

it’s simple.

This is it, ladies. We’ve found the holy grail of drugstore skincare products. Behold:

I scooped this per Jay’s step-moms recommendation and I must say… Just when you think you’ve removed all of your makeup, you haven’t. This Simple Cleansing Micellar Water removes every last bit of your daily grime and leaves you fresh-faced and fancy free. BONUS: It’s $7. Simple.

this just in.

Our absolute favorite skincare line, Dermalogica, launches their latest line of magic in a bottle this month… PowerBright TRx™.

This powerful 3 step system treats and prevents hyperpigmentation leaving your skin bright and flawless. A dream, right?

Behold.

We ❤ results.

Up first, C-12 Pure Bright Serum. Long story short, this increases your skins luminosity. A power house really. This is used prior to Pure Night and Pure Light.

Pure Light SPF50 is an advanced daytime moisturizer that includes brightening antioxidants and peptides with an extra boost of sun protection. As we all know by now, daily sunscreen is KEY to younger looking skin.

Pure Night is a nourishing overnight formula that minimizes surface spots and reduces fine dehydration lines. All while you get your beauty sleep.

We’ve begun this regimen and so far the results are exactly as they say. Smooth, bright skin. This comes as no surprise as Dermalogica KNOWS skin.

Give it a try. girls. You won’t be sorry!

skin matters.

We had the privilege of attending the launch of the latest Dermalogica Hybrid space in Atlantic Station last week. To say we were blown away is an understatement. The space offers consumer education, sales and training as well as a retail area and interactive classroom. The first concept of Dermalogica’s hybrid location opened last year in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Attendees included Dermalogica founder Jane Wurwand; Heather Hickman, senior director of U.S. education, and Diana Howard, Ph.D., vice president of global education and research and development. All skincare geniuses. We were fortunate to be able to pick their brains (at a private dinner! so VIP!), and we were so impressed with their knowledge and enthusiasm for the brand.

To be expected, the products are nothing short of amazing. After a week of using the special cleansing gel, multi-active toner, and daily micrfoliant, our skin has totally recovered from winter. Next up, the multivitamin power recovery masque. We hear this product is life changing. Stay tuned for our review…

we resolve to…

Here at The Glitter Life, we believe in home improvement, self improvement, wardrobe improvement…life improvement in general. We love the start of a new year – it gives us a little extra push to make some positive changes in our lives.

New Years Resolutions

six steps to a better us.

1. Get organized. Try as we might, we’ve never been able to use the “task” function on our phones effectively. We’re paper people, and we like to check stuff off. We love this pretty to-do list from Sugar Paper, now available here.

2. Live healthier by drinking one pressed juice a day. You guys know we love Roots Pressed Juices.

3. Develop a signature scent for our homes and our boutiques. We vote for Voluspa Crisp Champagne, now available here.

4. Give more of our time, our money, our talents and our love.

5. Take care of our skin. We each have a Clarisonic, but we aren’t great about using them every day. This year we vow to make them part of our daily routines.

6. Cook. We both like to whip up party appetizers (also hereherehere and here) but it’s rare that we cook weeknight meals. Stay tuned for some healthy, easy recipes you can make any night of the week.

PS – After ringing in the new year separately (check out our instagram for pics), we met up and took some pretty amazing photos. Maybe we should add another resolution to our list: Take one decent photo together in 2014.

New Year's Eve

this is actually the best one of the night.

friday five: back to school beauty.

It’s been a while since we geared up for “back to school” shopping madness. Still, we want in on the excitement of creating a new look for the new school year. So instead of new clothes, we’re opting for a beauty refresher. It’s time to switch up our hairstyles and tweak our beauty routine. We’re making the following changes, starting this weekend:

1. Sophisticated Hair. Bye bye, side braid. It’s time for something more polished. Try a simple side twist to add interest to gorgeous loose curls. Now, if only the humidity would cooperate…

our girl Lauren Conrad can do no wrong.

2. Fresh Nails. J came across the most PERFECT fall color by Essie (shocking!) this week. You need Bahama Mama in your life this season.

3. Dark Lips. Fall means darker, richer everything, so ditch your summer nude gloss for a spicy lip color. We heart this deep red lip + LBD combo.

Whitney Port The Glitter Life

we’re having a hills moment, clearly. LOVE this look.

4. Mermaid Eyes. We’re firm believers in easy make-up that takes you from day to night. Smokey eyes can do just that – just refresh your eyeliner and add a layer or two of shadow. This teal smokey eye is a nice update from our usual black and grey look.

5. Skin Care. Undo your summer sun damage with a retinol product. L swears by this SkinMedica Tri-Retinol Complex. Don’t believe us? It was recently featured in Marie Claire magazine! Add it to your usual anti-aging routine: switch your usual anti-wrinkle products to every other night, and use this on the off nights. If you’re in Statesboro, you can scoop this at Dr. Marc Bisseck’s Med Spa.

friday five: beat the heat.

We love a three day weekend – the next Friday seems to roll around that much faster. It’s hot here in the South, and we’re headed for the pool tomorrow. Here, five of our favorite ways to cool off:

1. Watermelon Floats. These refreshing frozen-yogurt floats are a must have for your guests this weekend. Brighten up the glasses with fresh limes! We are making these. Period.

2. Tomato Zucchini Pasta Salad. This cold pasta salad is easy to prepare, absolutely delicious…and can sit safely in the sun for hours (it’s bound by a Sherry Shallot Vinaigrette, not mayo).

3.  Cucumber Lemonade Chiller. We ADORE rosemary in cocktails, so of course we fell hard for this adult lemonade. Make a pitcher and sip all day. Another summer cocktail option? Raspberry Beer Cocktails.

4. Refreshing Face Mask. When the heat gets to be too much, venture inside and whip up one of these masks using ingredients you probably already have on hand.

5. Refreshing Body Spray. Hop on over to Thank Your Body and learn how to make a refreshing body spray. Honestly, it sounds really easy.
