As promised, here are a few of my favorite looks for the holiday season. You don’t need much: a fun little skirt and a few special accessories will get you through.
I wore this adorable plaid skirt for a family holiday event. It’s sold out for now (but keep looking – this brand has a habit of restocking popular items!), so I rounded up some other equally cute little plaid numbers for you guys.
Here I am, wearing my trusty “Sidewalk Skirt” again. Also, I’m a big believer in tights. They really do make a huge difference as far as warmth! But all tights are not created equal. These Spanx Luxe Leg Tights are the only tights I will ever wear – they are 100% opaque, never lose their shape and do a LOT for you as far as holding everything in. They’re a big confidence booster! I’m wearing them in the first pic as well.
Merry, merry everything! The holidays are in full swing, and since both of us have little ones our posting may become a little spacy as we (try to) focus on our boys during this special time of year. Here’s a look at some of my favorite outfits from the last couple of weeks. As I mentioned in this post, I tend to do “capsule dressing” AKA buying a few new pieces every season that work with 1) what I already have and 2) also work with each other. It makes getting dressed in the morning so much easier! Click each photo to shop the look, or (if you’re looking at this on our website), click each piece in the product widget below the photo.
I’ve put this wool “Sidewalk Skirt” in heavy rotation this fall/winter (and it’s on MAJOR SALE right now – less than $20! – so scoop several colors!). The gathered/ruched/ruffled/ waistband is super-comfy, and the high-waisted fit is so flattering. It’s perfect with tights as well. I’m wearing it here with my all-time favorite sweater (I have it in several colors – can’t stop, won’t stop) and leopard-print heels.
And speaking of leopard…
This faux-fur jacket makes me SO happy. I love the length and how cozy it feels – it’s honestly warmer than some of my “serious weather” coats. Leopard-print looks great with literally EVERYTHING (the only exception: something else leopard-print). I wear mine with everything from jeans and a button-down to an LBD. My exact coat sold out super fast, but I rounded up a ton of other options for you guys in a range of price points.
This corduroy skort from Sole Statesboro is a super-versatile piece – it’s lightweight, so it looks great with bare legs and loafers…but it also works great with tights (these Spanx tights are the ONLY tights I will ever wear!) and booties. I’m wearing the skort here with the same wool sweater from above and and a ruffle coat from several years ago. If you love dressy coats like there, click here for my round-up of the best ruffle coats this year!
Here’s my go-to sweater in bright orange. Orange is one of my favorite colors – it works so perfectly with olive, navy, etc. I’m wearing it here with Spanx denim leggings (which you should REALLY check out if you haven’t yet) and a statement necklace. I’m definitely in favor of wearing statement necklaces for everyday – they elevate basics and make them feel special.
Stay tuned for my favorite holiday dressing! Hope the rest of your week is wonderful – xo
Gah I LOVVVEEE this time of year – the last few weeks have been gloriously cool, and it really feels like the holidays are about to begin! Here’s a look at some of my favorite outfits from last week. I tend to do “capsule dressing”, buying a few new pieces every season that work with 1) what I already have and 2) also work with each other. It makes getting dressed in the morning so much easier! Today I’m sharing a few of my new pieces, and I’ll share a few more next week. As you can see, I gravitate towards classic shapes and bright, clear colors. Click each photo to shop the look, or (if you’re looking at this on our website), click each piece in the product widget below the photo.
This look is pretty typical of my style – I love a great blazer paired with jeans. This belt was a definite splurge but I have worn it almost every day this fall. Every girl needs a navy blazer in her closet, and this one from J Crew Factory fits perfectly. My striped tee is another favorite J Crew purchase – there are a few sizes left. If those don’t work for you, this one is almost identical and also comes in a red stripe – cute!
I’m always looking for a great button-down – but they are HARD to find! So many of them are bulky and bother me under sweaters…so I was super excited when I found this polka-dot one from J Crew Factory. It’s got a lot of stretch but it’s not clingy. It works great alone or under a sweater. I love it so much that I got it in two colors (see below). My favorite distressed skinnies are sold out everywhere, but I found some other options for you from 7 For All Mankind, Free People and New York & Co. And that’s my favorite bag in the background – you can read more about why I love it here.
Wait, has it been a MONTH since we posted? Insert that little chin-stroking emoji here.
I *love* dressing for fall – you can do so much more as far as layering, mixing prints and patterns, and playing with color. Here’s a look at some of my recent fall outfits – shop by clicking each photo or by clicking the items below!
My exact OTK boots are from my boutique Dish Statesboro (get 10% off their website when you use promo code GLITTER!), but I found several other others that are super similar.
It was so cold for our church’s Harvest Festival a few weeks ago that I had to wear FOUR layers – totally insane for October in South Georgia! These duck boots are also available at Dish Statesboro and are only $25 – WHAT.
Celebrated my birthday last week in one of my favorite fall looks. My emerald coat is several years old, but this one from J Crew Factory is the exact same color! This wool pencil skirt (also from J Crew Factory) runs a little big – I suggest sizing down.
My Sorel “Cate the Great” hidden wedge boots were an investment, but every time I wear them I fall in love all over again. And this camo field jacket is a TOTAL steal at $44.
Hope everyone is having a great fall so far and enjoying this cooler weather! xo
GOODNESS, you guys. I know I begin every post this way…but we have had a LOT going on. It’s hard for a girl to find the time to post! On top of our usual work and family commitments, Jennifer and I spent last weekend in Atlanta, buying fall inventory for Sole and Dish, taste-testing tacos and perfecting our frose recipe. Here’s a look at the styles and products we’ve been loving lately…
Next morning we headed to AmericasMart to buy some fall pretties for my boutiques Sole and Dish. In honor of National Rose Day (I told you, it’s a real thing), I schlepped all my stuff in this Old Navy tote. Oh, and now it’s on sale for $8. You’ll spend more on your bottle of rose!
Great minds think alike…we both bought these fun sleep shorts and wore them Saturday night. UNPLANNED. I went preppy with pink with green leopards, and Jennifer stuck with her siganture palm print. Both prints are still available in all sizes.
Happy MONDAY – welcome to a five-day week. Yay? I’m teaching Vacation Bible School all this week, so you may not see me much…but Jennifer is ready with lots of cute Insta posts! In the meantime, here’s a look back at our week…
Jennifer and Jay celebrated Baby James’ first birthday last weekend. Jennifer has promised to share party details soon, but in the meantime you can check out her swim look: one-shoulder top // bottom // sunnies // similar sunnies.
Brunch is the most important meal of the day, so when Jennifer’s al fresco Sunday brunch was rained out yesterday, she just moved it inside. Honestly, I would have eaten outside in the rain if it meant using this amazing table setting! Palm print and gold flatware and beaded plates, oh my.
So, something exciting happened last week – my boys and I were on the cover of Moments Magazine! We had a blast shooting the cover, even though it was a challenge to get both boys to look in the same direction at the same time – witness my death-grip on Ed. I was flattered to be featured, and Joe and I are grateful for the opportunity to share our family’s story. You can read the article via ISSU here.
Have you guys recovered from the long weekend? Ours was glorious…but Tuesday hit us like a ton of Monday-sized bricks. After struggling yesterday, we’re back in the game today. We put a few items to the test last week – read on for the deets.
Jennifer and Jay traveled to Vegas last week, and as you probably know that East Coast-to-almost-West Coast flight is BRUTAL. A cocktail and this H&M comfy striped button-down (paired with Blank NYC white denim – of course) made the flight a little more bearable. The top comes in a few more colors/prints!
The Joes and I didn’t go ANYWHERE for Memorial Day weekend, and it was magical. Sometimes relaxing at home is the best way to recharge. We did have a few friends over for a pool party Saturday night, and this striped bikini top and bottom from Target got a lot of compliments. As I’m writing this post, all sizes are still available! I love how the top feels so secure, and it’s true to size. The bottoms are not as cheeky as most styles right now – I probably could have sized down, but with two kids…better safe than sorry. Also, have you guys tried this SPF 30 Brush On Block yet? It’s a truly genius product – you just twist the brush and a translucent SPF powder materializes on the brush. No greasy sunscreen lotion getting in your eyes, no kids coughing exaggeratedly “ughhhhh it’s in my mouth!!!!” as you spray them. Wait, are mine are the only ones that do that? Seriously, try it.
This flamingo pool float is EVERYTHING. I *hate* floats that don’t keep you above water – if I wanted to get wet, I would SWIM. -_- This giant pink beauty keeps me suspended above the water and provides plenty of room to relax. I do recommend using an air compressor or similar-ish thingy (idk what they’re called, I’m not a scientist) to inflate it. Don’t ask me how I know.
On Memorial Day, Jennifer sipped a few margs in this adorable striped off-shoulder top. It comes in petite AND tall and – unbelievably! – it’s under $20. You’ll have plenty of money left over for queso.
We’ve got tons of cute stuff planned for the next few weeks. Follow along on Instagram and tag us in your own pics!
So apparently the first official day of summer is June 21…Georgia weather definitely didn’t get the memo. Thanks to warm temps, last week’s looks included lots of pretty prints and the PERFECT summer jumpsuit. Take a look…
We can’t stop wearing off-shoulder tops, and this one is less than $25! Scoop it before it sells out. My faux-suede slides are under $20. My vintage denim shorts are available at Dish and under $50 – the high-waist fit is so great.
Palm print is EVERYTHING – we can’t get enough. I’ve been wearing this romper from Sole nonstop, and there are so many other cute palm print styles available right now. Click here to shop five of our favorites, all under $50.
Another day, another jumpsuit. You can read all about my love for denim jumpsuits here – it’s safe to say I’m obsessed with them. I’m in love with this new arrival at Sole (pictured above) – yes, there’s a cut-out…but the high-waisted pants are so flattering, and the lining means you don’t have to wear a bra. And look at those shoulder ties – that’s a lot of style for only $50! I also love this strapless one with cropped legs, and this one has side slits similiar to mine.
Baby James nailed his first trip to Waffle House on Saturday. Apparently they made an exception to the No Shoes, No Service policy for him?! Jennifer’s bopping around in her favorite Zella leggings – they also come in black – and Nike Pro Warm pullover. Because it’s COLD in there, you guys! These Nike sneakers (we talk about them a lot because we both have them/love them) and this LV bag are weekend staples.
We’ve got some great stuff planned for the next few days – Jennifer and Jay are in Vegas, so be sure to watch our Insta story to get behind-the-scenes pics. Hope your week is magical!
PS – This little gem popped up in my Facebook memories on Saturday. It’s us, nine years ago. Check out that sweet iPod dock! We spent all of 2008 wearing True Religion denim and black tops…and you can’t see Jennifer’s shoes, but she has on the same ones I do. Twinning from the beginning. Fun fact – we still like to sit in garages and drink wine.
