your Masters party: ham sliders + azalea cocktails.

These Hawaiian Ham and Swiss Sliders are THE BEST SANDWICHES YOU WILL EVER EAT, swear. L made these for her fifth annual egg hunt on Saturday, and all 96 were snapped up by party-goers (kids included!). Whip some up for a Masters viewing party this weekend and add a round of Azalea Cocktails. You’re good to go.

The Glitter Life Ham and Cheese Slider
you cannot – repeat, cannot – eat just one of these.

Hawaiian Ham & Swiss Sliders (makes 24 sandwiches, plan on 2-3 per person)

What You Need:

  • 24 slices deli honey ham (L used Sara Lee Maple Ham)
  • 6 slices swiss cheese, cut into quarters
  •  1/3 cup mayonnaise (L used Kraft mayo)
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dijon mustard (L used French’s Dijon)
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 packages (12 count) King’s Hawaiian Original or Honey Wheat Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls

What You Do:

  • Split rolls in half and spread mayo onto 1 side of the rolls. Place a slice or two of ham and a (quarter) slice of swiss cheese in roll. Replace the top of the rolls and bunch them closely together into a baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together poppy seeds, dijon mustard, melted butter, onion powder and worcestershire sauce.
  • Pour sauce over the rolls, just covering the tops. Cover with foil and let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Bake covered at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted. Uncover and cook for additional 2 minutes until tops are slightly browned and crisp. Serve warm.

These sandwiches are also great at room temperature – don’t stress about serving them right out of the oven. You can assemble the sandwiches the night before baking – just cover TIGHTLY with plastic wrap to prevent them drying out. When you’re ready, pour on the sauce and pop them in the oven!

Happy Tuesday, glitter girls!

This weekend J and I had a glitter reunion in Athens, GA for the GSU/UGA (our alma maters, respectively) game. Athens is a beautiful college town–we ate great food, drank great wine and had a blast in general. Witness:

Tailgating
we tailgated with a huge crew from Georgia Southern. and yes, we’re both wearing fur vests.
Sanford Stadium
there’s nothing like a Saturday in Sanford Stadium.
Joe & Laura
joe loves a selfie.
Cheers!
we met up after the game at East West Bistro, one of the best spots for people watching in downtown Athens.
Look!
see what we mean?
Thumbs Up.
joe commissioned a street artist to draw the Georgia Southern eagle. it looked so good that jay asked him to draw the Chase 54 logo. can you believe the artist didn’t have any arms? what an amazing talent.
Gingkos.
j and jay headed back to lake oconee saturday night. joe and I enjoyed brunch outside at NONA, under these beautiful gingko trees.
Crabcakes Benedict
this crabcakes benedict is pretty much the best thing i’ve ever eaten.

We hope your weekend was as fantastic as ours. Tweet us pics @glitter_blog_xo.

recap: fashion segment

Happy Wednesday, glitter girls!

I was thrilled to be asked by a local television station to put together a few Georgia Southern “game day” looks in honor of GSU’s homecoming last weekend. I was a little nervous about speaking on live television, but I think I did fine. The clothes speak for themselves anyway, right?

J couldn’t make it down for this event, but she was there in spirit. Here are a few pics of yours truly, plus a photo of each model. I am lucky to have such beautiful friends!  Check out the fashion magic we worked with GSU’s colors: navy, gold and white.

L + Employees
thanks to all of my fantastic employees who showed up in their own game day outfits!

“Cute and Casual” Tailgate Look:

Game Day Look 1
yes, this look qualifies as “game day”…but you can rock these gold skinnies and chambray shirt any day of the week.

Cold Weather Looks:

Game Day Look 2
you can’t see them, but shannon’s leopard print loafers are my favorite part of this cold weather look. every outfit needs a little pattern.
Game Day Look 3
we layered a tank, cardi and leather jacket to create our second “cold weather” look.

Dressy Post-Game Looks:

Game Day Look 4
this was the simplest outfit we did, but i think it had the most impact. love the sparkly tee paired with dark jeans and simple heels. sequins for day? yep.
Game Day Look 5
pair classics like a white button-down and navy blazer with a shimmer skirt and ankle boots. so glitter.

Most of these styles can be found on www.shopsocialdish.com.

Do you like our looks? Do you participate in the “game day” trend? Share your pics with us @glitter_blog_xo!
