design project: white-out.

White after Labor Day? Yassss, especially when it’s in the form of an adorable animal objet d’art. Any of these would look amazing atop a stack of books on your shelves, or incorporate one or two into a winter-white tablescape for your next dinner party (what, it could happen).

diy: our favorite wallpaperΒ

From L:

You guys. I swoon every time I see Thibaut Tanzania wallpaper. I fantasize about using it in every room of my house: dining room, powder room, bedroom…CLOSET. But I have one problem: it’s kinda spency. I can’t bring myself to pull the trigger.

So imagine how excited I was to see this DIYΒ on Simple Details blog for a look-alike. With just a few tweaks to a cheetah print stencil, you can paint your walls to look ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE the wallpaper of my dreams.

PSA: My husband, who owns a mold mitigation business, really likes this idea because – as a lot of folks will tell you – wallpaper can trap moisture, hide leaks, and create all manner of chaos in your home. Much better to stencil on paint walls!

View the real thing in these amazing rooms, then try your hand at the DIY!

friday two: holiday wreaths.

You guys. This week has been one big stressful blur. Work and family commitments have limited us to zero time to get anything ready for the holidays. Our Saturday mission is to AT LEAST get a wreath up. We love these two inexpensive DIY ideas that appeared on Cupcakes and Cashmere recently.

L says:

Over the years, my home decorating style has evolved from a strictly neutral palette (cream, black and khaki – classic to be sure, but also pretty boring) to one with more and more colors (a little green here, some turquoise there). Over the last year, I’ve added a few red and pink accents to my home. Here, my two faves.

Red Jenny Lind Bed
inspired by this Land of Nod catalog photo, i painted joe jr’s Jenny Lind bed from Target red. bed no longer available.
Robert Abbey Gourd Lamp
this robert abbey gourd lamp sits in my living room next to a stack of books.

And now, a few things on my To Buy list. Joe, stop reading.

For Like Ever
i’ve wanted this poster for…like…ever. buying it!
Red Metal Chairs
wouldn’t these be perfect on your patio for this summer? they’re on SALE.
West Elm SMEG Refrigerator

Fucshia Chevon Rug
this land of nod fuchsia chevron rug would be amazing in a neutral kitchen OR funky office.

thanksgiving tablescapes.

Happy Monday, glitter girls!

This week and next, L and I will be sharing Thanksgiving holiday ideas, including our fave recipes and go-to playlists. We’re kicking off the countdown with these inspiring tablescapes. So when Mom asks you to do the place cards (you know she does that!), do her one better and replicate one of these fantastic tables.

Lantern Table Setting
for a later meal, turn down the lights and let the lanterns do the work.
Golden Harvest Table
try this Golden Harvest Thanksgiving Table by Martha Stewart.
Fall Colors Table
take your color cues from nature…
Modern Moroccan Table
or go bold with this GORG modern Moroccan table from Jayson Home.

All of these settings start with simple white dishes. Enhance your everyday tableware with votives (you can’t have too many), chargers (they don’t have to match) and pretty napkins tied with twine or ribbon. Get creative with your centerpiece–you can go tall and bountiful (if your vibe is formal) or long and low (perfect for a more casual gathering). Click here for a few more centerpiece ideas.

How will you be decorating your table this Thanksgiving? Share with us on Twitter @glitter_blog_xo
