baby ed

party post: l’s baby shower.

L:

J and three sweet friends threw the most amazing baby shower for Baby Ed and me at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro. You may have seen a few pics on Instagram. These are a few more of our favorites! We’ll start from the beginning…

Our favorite girls at Colonial House of Flowers set the mood with this gorgeous centerpiece. See more of their work here and here.

Centerpiece
we love every single thing the girls at colonial house of flowers come up with.

I was so glad my mom was able to make the trip. We all missed my mother-in-law, who was (smartly) cruising in cooler temps.

Joe + Laura + Jan
big brother-to-be joe, my mom jan and me. our coordinating lilly pulitzer outfits were unplanned.

My favorite surprise of the day was…a FLOWER CROWN! I have never been so excited (or so glad that I didn’t do my hair in a top-knot). I had a really hard time taking it off at the end of the day brunch.

I was so excited and flattered that three of the hostesses were repping my stores! From left: Christa is wearing a skirt from Social Statesboro and Jack Rogers “Georgica” sandals from Sole Statesboro. J’s wearing an ASOS gypsy dress and fringe booties from Lulu’s (sold out, similar here). I’m wearing a vintage Lilly Pulitzer dress (a hand-me-down from my mom – I actually wore this five years ago to a baby shower for Joe!) and Tory Burch heels (incredibly old, also seen here). Kate’s wearing a Love Poppy leather tassel necklace from Sole Statesboro. Niki’s wearing Spanx cropped denim leggings (they’re also a favorite of mine), Jack Rogers “Lauren” sandals and a Sneak Peek top, all from Sole Statesboro.

Everyone who knows me knows I live for brunch. I was so happy to see quiche and mini-pancakes on the menu!

blah
i crushed two *big* pieces of quiche before the brunch was over.
blah
a little cheese, a little fruit…
Polka Dot Straws
i heart printed straws.

Jennifer brought cupcakes from the Atlanta outpost of Georgetown Cupcake. I am obsessed with peanut butter, so she set aside one of those just for me. #truefriend The “E” flags are from Etsy.

Georgetown Cupcakes
dry ice may or may not have been involved in the transport of these beauties from atlanta.

I had the cutest little helpers opening gifts: Joe and his BBFL Leo.

these two were so excited to open all the presents!

joe is going to be a great big brother.
Christa + Jennifer
oh hi, christa and jennifer!
Valerie + Shellie
my friend Val (left) is exactly two weeks ahead of me…she’s due any day now!
Joe Cupcake
this was joe’s SECOND red velvet cupcake of the morning.

Kate arranged these simple and cute rock candy favors. Joe was fascinated with these…and then he really flipped when he realized it was actual CANDY.

Rock Candy Favors
a little something sweet for guests to take home.
Hostess Gifts
gifts for the hostesses with the mostestes.

Each hostess received a small succulent in mercury glass from Colonial House.

Hostess Gifts
succulents are my jam. because i kill pretty much every other plant.

Post-shower, Joe and I hung out in Ed’s new nursery. He told me “Mom, that was a GREAT PARTY.”…and I totally agree. I was overwhelmed at how beautiful everything was, and how these four friends nailed all of my favorite things. Baby Ed and I are so lucky to have four such incredible women in our lives.

five hours later and i’m still wearing the flower crown.

maternity style: the home stretch.

You guys. It’s HOT. And L is PREGNANT. What’s she wearing? These pieces are going the distance, from now until her due date in August. From L:

1) Mossimo Supply Kimono Dress – I wore this dress (in heather gray) pretty much every day of the last two months of my first pregnancy. It isn’t maternity, but it’s super bump-friendly. Other selling points: it’s not too short; it has a flattering neckline; the lightweight jersey is perfect for warm (HOTTT) weather. I really needed a new one this time around, and I was not optimistic that Target would still carry this style five years later…BUT IT DOES! So I recently ordered it two more colors (black and zenith teal). Meet my new uniform, at least for the next five weeks.

Target Mossimo Supply Kimono Dress
after my first pregnancy, joe threatened to throw away the grey version of this dress. rude!

2) Liz Lange Maternity V-Neck – As you guys know, I’m not a fan of buying maternity clothes unless it’s absolutely necessary. Most of it is SUPER expensive and quite often hideous. But I do really like these Liz Lange v-neck tees. They’re nice and long, the fit is perfect…and they’re cheap enough to toss after you give birth. Bye! I have this tee in black (to pair with these black leggings) and navy/white stripe (to pair with my white Spanx skinnies). I wear both with a huge acid yellow chunky necklace. Distract with accessories!

omg, her face.

perfect with white skinnies.

3) Joe’s Jeans Denim Shorts – I bought these denim shorts (with J!) for my first pregnancy, and I am getting just as much wear out of them the second time around. I pair them with a short sleeve Piko top from Shop Sole Dish (black, grey, royal blue, mint and white available). They weren’t cheap, but I’ve gotten so much wear out of them. Obviously, if I were pregnant in the fall or winter, it might have made more sense to invest in full-length maternity denim.

Joe's Jeans Maternity Shorts
psa: don’t wear these with wedges. they’re short!

4) Liz Lange Maternity Leggings – When I have to dress up these days, my go-to outfit consists of these black leggings, a black tank (usually this one) and a cute kimono (like this one or this one)…finished off with printed leopard heels. Not exactly revolutionary, but comfortable and good enough for the next five weeks.

Target Liz Lange Leggings
my leggings are actually cropped (which i definitely prefer this time of year)…but i can’t find those online! i would cuff these once or twice to get the same look.

5) Aerie Boho Bralettes – OMGGGGG. I discovered these lace bralettes a few weeks ago and they’ve been such a game changer. They’re super comfortable to sleep in, and I will definitely wear them post-pregnancy. This style comes in so many great colors – I had to stop myself at three.

Aerie Boho Lace Bralette
i snagged this bra in pink sorbet (shown here – more of a coral, really), fair (a super light pink) and navy.

love the deep v in the back.

We’d love to see your pregnancy style! Tag us in your pics on Instagram @glitter_blog_xo!

design project: baby ed’s nursery

L:

It’s hard to believe (for me, anyway), but Baby Ed is due in less than six weeks! I thought I would share the progress I’ve made on his nursery. It’s not 100% finished (I don’t think I’ve ever been totally “finished” with any project), but it’s definitely getting there. Baby Joe and I have had a lot of fun shopping and organizing – it’s definitely helped him get excited about the new addition to our family. If he only knew how his world is about to change…

Nursery Collage

Animal Illustrations // Etsy (check out these two inexpensive framing options from Walmart and Target)

Grey Babyletto “Hudson” Crib // Target

Stuffed Owl // Pier 1 (no longer available, similar here)

“Flynn” Navy Nailhead Chair // Lamps Plus (I actually found mine several years ago at TJ Maxx – it’s been living in our den)

Nate Berkus Gold Side Table // Target (this style is no longer available, but I love this one for a similar look)

Knit Fox Rattle // Land of Nod

“Aloe” Paint // Sherwin Williams (for the changing table and chest of drawers)

Changing Table // Pottery Barn (mine is several years old and was used in Joe’s nursery)

Moose Antlers (spray painted white) // One Kings Lane (no longer available, but similar here)

Fabric // Arizona Canyon (changing table pad), Mint Triangles (crib sheets), Navy Horizon (for this crib quilt that I haven’t pulled the trigger on yet! Hint, hint, Mom…)

Distressed Wood Mirror // Walmart (love this option from Target)

“Vinnie” Cradle Rocker // Overstock

I hope Baby Ed likes his nursery as much as I do!
