Jennifer and I have never been so glad to see Friday. We’ve both been swamped with work, travel and those end-of-the-school-year obligations that seem to snowball around this time. I’m dreaming of a little beach escape this weekend – if I can actually pull it off, and here’s what I’ll be wearing.
Striped Tee // Madewell makes the best tees, and this striped one rings all my bells. It’s cropped but not TOO cropped, know what I’m sayin’?
Denim Cut-Offs // Levi’s Wedgie Denim Shorts have caused quite a stir this spring. I’m happy to report that they don’t give you an actual wedgie. The high-waisted fit goes perfectly with a cropped tee (see above).
Espadrilles // Jennifer and I can’t get enough slides right now. I picked up this faux-suede pair at Forever 21 in Atlanta last week, and I’ve been wearing them non-stop. They’re under $20, so no big if they get a little sandy at the beach.
Add your favorite sunnies, bikini (I love this classic one in white from Target) and this beach tote (it’s on sale for $29!), and you’re ready to de-stress from the week. Cheers to the weekend! xo
After years of battling flaky, dry skin (and trying every moisturizer out there), I’ve finally found my forever product: Beautycounter No. 2 Plumping Facial Oil. I’ve always been leery of facial oil – even though my skin is dry, I never liked the idea of putting OIL on my face. What if I break out? What if my makeup slides off?
My friend Rebecca is a Beautycounter consultant, and she convinced me to try this oil. I’m soooo glad I did! It doesn’t feel greasy, and my makeup definitely doesn’t slide off. In fact, my makeup looks way better because my skin is smoother. I’ve been using it consistently for about a month and I can tell a real difference – my skin is less flaky, even at the end of the day.
No 2. Plumping Facial Oil contains a propietary blend of seven natural oils to moisturize, nourish and firm your skin, and omega-rich argan oil helps minimize the appearance of fine lines (who’s not worried about those??). But to me, the best part of the Beautycounter brand is what’s NOT in their products. Beautycounter prohibits the use of over 1500 harmful or questionable ingredients, aka The Never List. Learn more about it here.
Plumping Facial Oil is the answer to my dry skin prayers, but there are TONS of great Beautycounter products for all skin types. Shop the entire line here or email Rebecca directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Friends of ours are friends of hers, so if you place an order this week she’ll give you free shipping! Great skin and free shipping? Can’t beat that.
I have struggled with a two-bag system for years. I have always carried a purse (for all the usual purse things) as well as a “work bag” for my laptop, notebook, folders, phone charger, etc. It wasn’t that I hadn’t tried to find a bag that could do it all…I just couldn’t find one. Sure, I’ve had gigantic purses that fit my laptop, but they were always unstructured bags without compartments. In other words, giant BLACK HOLES in which to lose all my stuff. I could frequently be found dumping the contents of my bag out onto the floor, searching for something random like a mini-stapler. Grrrrrrrr.
And there are certainly plenty of business-y satchels out there…but I have never found one that I didn’t think screamed LAPTOP BAG. I wanted something big enough for my laptop that still looked like a handbag. I wanted it all.
And then I FOUND IT.
The Tory Burch York Buckle Tote. Full disclosure, Jennifer also has this tote. She had it first! I am totally copying her. I was having the hardest time finding a bag that checked all my boxes, and she suggested this one. What took me so long to buy it? No idea. But I’m so glad I did.
The best part about this bag is the pockets. There are FOUR interior slip pockets (for phone, keys, sunglasses and pens. I have a lot of pens.). In addition, there’s a side zipper compartment where I keep random stuff (hairbrush, etc). The crowning achivement is the interior zipper pocket that divides the bag into two sections. This interior zipper pocket is large enough to hold my laptop, my favorite Sugar Paper Notebook (I use one every two-three months instead of a planner) and various folders. People make fun of my folders, but when you work on-the-go a lot (and I do!), you need access to all your papers like school forms, invoices, etc. My Tory Burch make-up bag (Jennifer gave me this little baby years ago and it has served me so well – what we can say, we’re brand-loyal!) and HOBO wallet (this one is super similar) fit neatly on one side, and I keep my phone and laptop chargers on the other.
If I seem weirdly excited about this bag, it’s because I’ve spent years digging through two bags in frustration, struggling to find my stuff. I highly recommend this tote for anyone who frequently works out of town (me), in coffee shops (me, again) or in any random place (me, me, me). Happy Thursday!
We love the fun feel of tassel earrings, and they’re EVERYWHERE right now. Here are our favorites, all under $50!
My tassel earrings from Sole Statesboro are only $16. They also come in pink and white. You can’t buy them online (boo!), but you can call 912-764-7463 to order. Mention secret code GLITTER and get 10% off!
Same day, a few hours south…Joe and I were at brunch (read the post here). Joe’s AFTCO shorts are from my friend Whitney’s boutique Wrens. He has these in several colors – they hold up great and I love the length. You can call Wrens at 478-268-4728 to order, or click here to order directly from AFTCO. Joe has been wearing classic New Balance sneakers since he could walk – they are the best sneakers you’ll ever buy. I have saved every pair for Ed. As hard as Joe plays, he always outgrows his before they wear out. They come in infant sizes as well. Solid purchase!
Fast forward to Easter weekend…(because apparently we wore nothing interesting during the week!)…
Jennifer and Jay spent James’ first Easter at Reynolds Plantation. Jennifer’s white dress is sold out, but this one is super similar.
My husband and I (along with some MAJOR help from my in-laws and some very good friends!) hosted our annual egg hunt on Saturday. We started when Joe Jr. was just 6 months old, and it’s hard to believe that this was our seventh one! It seems to get bigger every year – this year we had 70 adults and 60 kids. That’s a lot of mimosas and pimiento cheese sandwhiches, yall. You can shop Ed’s Minnetonka moccasins at Sole, or you can shop them on Zappos here.
An Easter miracle happened in the Lanier family on Sunday morning. We actually got out of the house – fully clothed, with no yelling and no tears – and made it to church in time to take a photo. I got tons of compliments on my drop-waist dress, and little Joe was looking especially dapper in his bow tie from my friend Ryan’s store Bellies, Babies and Ballerinas (you can follow them on Instagram and comment to purchase!).
In my quest to spend some quality time with both of my boys, I’ve been taking them (separately, because I’m not a crazy person) to brunch on Saturdays. Mama time for them and a mimosa for me – everybody wins! My no-fail brunch look includes this adorable ruffle top (also comes in black!), my trusty Spanx denim leggings (which always fit no matter how many crepes I eat!) and my favorite Madewell denim jacket, because the temps have been varying wildly down here…and what’s the point of brunch if you can’t sit outside? We also like to do a little walking around downtown afterwards, so I always wear wedges. These Toms watercolor wedges are my current favorite.
We’ve got a Masters hangover (please tell us you guys watched – it was incredible!) and can’t really deal with Monday yet, so let’s review our looks from last week. You guys showed us a lot of love on Insta – thanks so much!!
My faux-suede baseball cap is from my boutique Dish and comes in tons of colors. You can order it here (psssst use discount code GLITTER at checkout and get 10% off your entire order!).
Tag us in your outfits on Instagram – we’d love to see what you’re wearing! Have a great week! xo
Happy Friday! Today we’ve got golf tournament attire on the brain. Next week is Masters Week, and we’re always excited for this storied tournament in our shared home town of Augusta. Of course, the big question is always…WHAT ARE WE WEARING? It’s important to be respectful of golf tradition, but – of course – we also want to be comfy and cute. We love a skort or skinnies paired with a simple polo or shell. And unless you plan to sit in the clubhouse all day (come on, don’t do that!), comfy kicks, oversized sunnies and a cross-body bag are key. Here are our two favorite looks.
